About LM Foundation

The LM Foundation was established in 2013 in Lawrence’s name as his legacy to the young people of St. Peter’s High School. He was passionate about broadening their horizons and giving  all students, regardless of background, belief in themselves and the chance to become the best they could be. For their part they needed the determination and commitment to succeed in reaching their goal. To continue to support young people as they move on from school, the LM Foundation will grant special awards. These will be made to current students or those who have recently left the school to enable them to go further in pursuit of their dream or chosen career.

Trainee Teacher Awards

Lawrence was passionate about providing the best possible training for teachers in Gloucestershire which in turn would lead to the best possible educational opportunities for all students. In the 1990’s, in partnership with Dame Janet Trotter, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire, he was instrumental in setting up an innovative school-based teacher training scheme which saw trainees working alongside highly qualified and experienced teachers. It gave trainees the chance to learn their trade and allow their talent to flourish.

In support of Lawrence’s vision, the Foundation will make two awards each year. These will be to trainees who have shown exceptional ability and proved themselves to be outstanding whilst in their training and who have the potential to make a difference in their career. These awards are:

The Lawrence Montagu Foundation Trainee Teacher of the Year: St. Peter’s High School

The Lawrence Montagu Trainee Teacher of the Year: Gloucestershire
